When given a 'blank canvas' for a cake design, where do I start? Well, one of the first things I'll think about is the colour. The colours used in the decoration must compliment each other, and the occasion the cake is being created for. I've stumbled upon an amazing colour palette blog that has been such an inspiration when it comes to colour I just had to share it with you. It is called The Perfect Palette and it's tag-line is 'Colour ideas for wedding, parties and life'...
The Perfect Palette shares 'inspiration boards' of many different palettes intended to help anyone planning a celebration. The palettes themselves are just so beautiful, you won't be able to draw yourself away from them. You can search by colour - some are very classic - such as the navy and shocking pink example above. You can also search by season - the yellow and blue example below just instantly makes you think of summer and would suit a beach wedding perfectly.
I've been really challenged to consider colour combinations that are less obvious. Take the yellow and grey palette below - who would have thought warm yellows would work with cold grays?
The palettes also deomonstrate that the colours don't have to be bold to be effective. This gentle teal, aqua and silver is stunning.
I'm sure I'll keep coming back to The Perfect Palette for 'Weddings, parties and life', and hope you enjoy it too! Do share your thoughts below - which palette are you most drawn to?
